Due to Microsoft's removal of the Application Impersonation Role in Exchange Online (February 2025), Sage CRM has transitioned from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to the Microsoft Graph API in the latest patches and Sage CRM 2025 R1.
What This Means for You
If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, this change does not impact you.
If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange Online, you will have experienced connectivity issues due to Microsoft’s changes.
The new patches restore Exchange Online integration with improved security and compatibility.
Key Changes in the Patch
Bi-directional synchronization of appointments is maintained and prioritized.
Import Emails and Contacts replaces the previous contact synchronization feature.
Task synchronization will be introduced in Sage CRM 2025 R1 or a future patch.
This transition aligns Sage CRM’s integration with Microsoft’s evolving security model while ensuring uninterrupted functionality.

If you're using Outlook for Microsoft 365 then you can install the Capsule Add-in for Outlook.
The Add-in makes it really easy to add contacts, store and track email conversations and create Tasks, Projects & Opportunities, all without leaving your inbox.
Once you start tracking an email conversation from Outlook using the Add-in it will keep tracking all future messages in that conversation - saving you from having to store each individual back and forth message.
The Outlook Add-in is only available for Microsoft 365 Business Subscription users. Not for Personal or Family Subscriptions nor for self-hosted Exchange accounts. Your email needs to be hosted by Microsoft 365.

Sage CRM 2022 R2 was released on 3rd September 2022.
The changes in Sage 2022 R2 have mainly focused on the New Email and Contact Import feature that replaces the Classic and Lite Outlook Plugins and a review of the general user experience and the readability of the interface.
Instead of using an additional install (plugin) within the email client (Outlook), the CRM server connects to the target email server. The user can select contacts and emails from their own account that they wish to import into Sage CRM.
The initial server connection will be for Exchange Online via OAuth 2.0. We aim to include support for Exchange On-Premise and Google Workspace from Sage CRM 2023 R1.
